OUT OF THE DOGHOUSE SMALL-DOG PLAYGROUP
NEW APPLICANTS READ BELOW:
Dogs must be healthy, non-aggressive, and non-biting to join our playgroup. They must also weigh no more than 25 lbs and be no taller than 14" at the withers. Males over the age of 6 months must be neutered. Females must not attend when 'in heat'. Their rabies vaccinations must be up to date. We recommend members ensure their vets are aware their dog belongs to a 50 - 100 member playgroup that is active indoors and out.
Out of the Doghouse is a social group whose only function is to provide
a time and place for small-dog playdates. We are not dog experts,
trainers, or professionals in any way. We are not responsible for the
supervision or behaviour of any dogs except the ones we own.
Owners
are fully and solely responsible for supervision of their dogs and for
the behaviour of their dogs and for any guests they bring out to the
events. All members agree to release Out of the Doghouse organizers,
assistants, and event hosts from any liability whatsoever.
New applicants can apply to join our playgroup on our network (link below), please answer the profile questions and tell us about yourself, your dog, and leave your contact information.
We often have a waiting list, but when a spot opens us we will invite you to attend one of our
meetups so that you can check us out and we can see if your dog is a
suitable match to our group. If you do not accept our invitation and we do not hear back from you, your application will automatically be deleted and you will need to reapply when you do have time to come out. Please watch for this invitation in your email. Do not hit "reply" as you usually would in order to respond to the invitation as this will not work. Please compose a new email and send it to: outofthedoghouse@gmail.com.
If your dog is a match to our playgroup, we will accept your invitation and you will gain access to our website and be sent more information on how to register and submit fees.
We are currently accepting new members. The fees for our
2009-2010 Season beginning September 1st are $100 per family living in the same residence (not per dog). Deadline for these fees is July 31 / 09 or within 2 weeks of your first meet-up. All monies collected go towards the expense and entertainment of the playgroup including the rental of indoor facilities for playtime during the winter.
Typical activities of our playgroup include:
- weekly pack walks as weather permits (usually on Sundays)
- indoor off-leash play during winter (Sunday afternoons, can not be guaranteed as we are at the mercy of those that own the facilities)
- outdoor off-leash play
- other activities often include: Paws in Motion, Potluck Picnic,
Birdshill Wiener Roast, Agility Day, Howloween, Corn Maze, Santa Party, and more.
There are also member-run subgroups on our network which offer additional activities if members want to join these subgroups. Although these groups follow our general rules and guidelines, they may have additional requirements of their own and any fees, dues, or costs are not including in the general membership in Out of the Doghouse.
